Custom Website Design

Websites designed around what visitors need to find out and what you need them to do.

We start with structure and content, then develop the visual design on top of them, so the finished site communicates clearly and still has a point of view.

Design and development stay in one studio. Layouts are drawn with the build in mind: how type behaves at every width, where animation serves a purpose, how images and video are produced and loaded. That is what keeps the finished site close to the design.

What we deliver

  • Sitemap, page hierarchy and navigation
  • User journeys and wireframes
  • Responsive interface design for phone, tablet and desktop
  • Interactive prototypes
  • Motion and interaction specifications
  • A component-based design system ready for development

Technology & implementation

We design in Figma with components and tokens that map directly to the code, so a button, a heading style or a spacing step means the same thing in the design file and in the build. Layouts are specified for phone, tablet and desktop, with real content wherever it exists instead of placeholder text.

Accessibility is decided at design stage, where it costs least: colour contrast, type sizes, focus states, touch target sizes and a heading structure that makes sense to a screen reader.

How the work runs

  1. Brief and content

What the site has to achieve, what content exists and what still needs to be written.

  2. Structure

Sitemap, page types and wireframes, agreed before visual design begins.

  3. Visual design

Key pages first, then the system extended to every page type.

  4. Prototype and handover

A clickable prototype for review, then components and specifications for development.

Example use

An illustrative scenario, not a description of a completed project.

A growing business needs a website that explains several services clearly without flattening its identity.

Custom websites, considered from the first wireframe to the last breakpoint.
